When it comes to cat owners having a couch, I am pretty sure some of you have your sofas being totally destroyed by your cat. It can be pretty perplexing that your beautiful couch gets scratched by your cat! Hence, for cat owners, it is actually paramount that you choose the best couch! But what are the top couch for cat owners then?
Best Couch for Cat Owners
When it comes to selecting the couch selection, there are certainly many factors of consideration. For instance price, quality, size, style, color, material, texture could be some points of consideration whereby the weightage of each factors differs for each individual. However, for cat owner the first thing to consider would most like be the material used.
One of the problem most cat owners face is that our cats tend to scratch the sofa leaving claw mark, fur or even dirt stains. Unless you plan to go for a pocket-friendly sofa which you would replace it as it gets worn out, you should go for microfiber materials if you plan to use this sofa long term. Following are some recommendations:
Coaster Alexis Collection Sofa Couch in Almond Microvelvet
Are you into simplicity without sacrificing on comfort? If so, this might be the ideal selection! This sofa is made up of microfiber and velvet material giving it an ultra soft look and feel. Just in case you are wondering what is the comfort level of this sofa. This sofa is firm but not stiff as when you sit on it you could still feel a slight bounce. This kind of texture is perfect for me as it gives me the right level of support without been overly firm.
Most importantly, I find that the fabric of this sofa isn’t such that it would be easily snagged by a cat. And in the event that the sofa is soiled by my cat, I could remove the cushion cover and give it wash – the sofa looks brand new again!
One interesting tips that I have gathered while I was chatting with a sofa expert is that when the cushion starts to compress and loose its share, one can remove the cushion cover and use a clothes steamer to steam the foam cushion. This allows the cushion to plump back up – you got to try it for yourself!
Lastly, the ease of assembly is something commendable as assembling the sofa can be done within minutes! What is needed to be done is just to screw the legs onto the bottom of the couch.
Ashley Furniture Signature Design – Hogan Reclining Sofa – Manual Recliner Couch – Mocha Brown
Another recommendation would be this Hogan reclining sofa which is made of suede like material. The fabric is soft while the cushion is firm, giving it a soft yet firm support. The arm rest are wide and comfortable – you will love to snuggle on it to watch TV, needless to mentioned sleeping on it as a bed! This material is good not only for the fact that our cats will not use it as a scratching post, but also the material is durable and lost lasting.
Assembly of this sofa as claimed by the manufacturer – “Easy-to-follow instructions and hardware included”!
Unfortunately no one is perfect and this chair has it’s flaws too. The control to adjust the chair is on the right side and is shaped so that you slip your fingers under the edge and lift up. The chair then moves quickly and effortlessly to the semi-recumbent position. To my dismay, this handle is made of a hard plastic which does not seems sturdy enough with risk that it might break. It would be nice if the manufacturer would use metal instead of plastic material when manufacturing the handle.

Despite saying so, most of the time, people usually own a sofa first before the cat is brought into the family. Having to change a sofa would not be a practical option. In such situation, you may like to consider laying a warm woolen cover over your sofa to protect it from your cat’s claw. Having said so, the advice above may not be applicable to all cats. What is important is to know your cat well and find the solution that helps resolve your pain point.
